Northern Dynasty's first crop of foals, 3 year olds in 2007, placed him in 4th place in Canada (average per 3 Yr Old) and 17th place in North America (average per starter)! Considering we lack an adequate 'A Track' facility to host our summer meet and with more than 350 Stallions (pacing/trotting) standing in Canada, this is quite an accomplishment! We look forward to watching their progress as 4 year olds. 'Dynasty' has some pretty talented 3 year olds coming out this year as well and we wish them, their breeders and owners all the best in 2008!

The strapping son of Camluck made his way to Alberta in 2003 after wrapping up a racing career that spanned six years and saw victories at more than 10 different tracks. The stallion was one of the greatest half-mile specialists in harness racing history, establishing incredible speed records of 1:54.2 at Woodstock and Hanover Raceways, while still handling the best the sport had to offer with regular 1:51 and 1:52 miles at Woodbine and Mohawk. One of the many highlights of his two year old career was when he won the Champlain Stake in a sizzling 1:53.1, giving him a new lifetime mark and new stake record. His lifetime mark is 1:52.1. Two weeks later he made history again at Hanover Raceway, beating the field by eight lengths, he received a standing ovation from race fans for his efforts in a record breaking 1:54.2. His 5 year reign as the track record holder at Hanover Raceway was broke in 2007. His Woodstock Raceway record still stands!

The Bill Wellwood Stables purchased Northern Dynasty as a yearling, they owned and trained him throughout his racing career. In 2002, his record was six wins, five seconds and five thirds, consistantly going to the starting gate as the race favourite. At the age of eight, and in perfect health, it was time for Northern Dynasty to prove he would be as dominant in the breeding shed as he was on the racetrack.
Since hanging up his harness in 2003, he travelled west making the Hennessy Farm in Millet, Alberta his home. Liz Hennessy is caring for him and managing his new career. Here he is "The King" and he wouldn't have it any other way!
His Dam, Silver Reign, "Ontario Sires Stake Super Star", is the winner of 42 races and $766,871 lifetime. The Silver Reign Pacing Series is named in her honour.
His Sire, Camluck has an amazing record of 1:48.4 and $1,003,260 lifetime. He is one of North America's leading Sires.
There has never been a better time to breed to an Alberta Sire or own an Alberta Bred! The lucrative Alberta Sires Stake program is one of the best in the country and it continues to improve each year. In 2007 the Alberta Sires Stakes purses exceed $1 Million. The Alberta Breeder's Bonus (Mare Bonus) is 600,000. The bonus is paid to owners of mares foaled in Alberta for their 2, 3, 4 and 5 year progeny based on money earned in all races, including stake races. The Alberta StarsProgram is a great incentive for Owners of Alberta breds, they recieve an additional 25% - 30% of the purse on horses 5 and under. This, we believe is only going to lead to a lot more owners choosing to purchase Alberta Sired horses. For our neighbours in British Columbia, Northern Dynasty is eligible to the B.C. Breeders Stakes, which also continues to improve.
